A group of Afghan girls took part in an excursion to Siikalahti Bay in Parikkala. The pupils spotted birds and became familiar with the Eurasian coot and seagulls under Hannu Siitonen’s guidance. The girls learnt about how seagulls function as rainbow birds to other bird species, and how their defence of their nest also benefits other birds. The girls wrote a story about a pair of finches in the Siikalahti Bay spring.
